Besides the obvious like NYC and Boston are there any cities where you can easily get around without a car? I heard Austin and Seattle have good train systems, is this true? Can you get around Orlando without a car?
Austin has a whopping one rail line. Better than nothing (but not by much).
Downtown Denver is centralized and doable without a car if you stay in the urban areas. All 4 major pro sports teams play in venues that are within reasonable walking distance of each other, there's plenty of shopping/dining, and (at least for a few more years) a downtown amusement park. The light rail is a hub and spoke system that primarily serves the burbs, but RTD has a great bus network. It's no NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc, but it's decent for a post-WWII city.

if stuck in USA...
Chicago, DC, Boston, Miami, NYC (if you are into BIG)
Central SF if you are into quaint.
For the rest of us(a) grunts... Pitt, MSP, NWK, philly, Oak, SEA
Portland, OR is pretty simple and fairly compact decent 'surface street' light rail (which those of us who have lived in international cities with REAL transit despise)
This stuff happens every week..
Surface Light rail running over people, fire truck, police cars, cement mixers, bicycles, wheel chairs... https://www.wweek.com/news/courts/20...vered-her-leg/Jury Awards Woman $15 Million After MAX Train Severed Her Leg
ALL suffer (traffic, businesses, commuters, tax payers, EMS...)
There are so many simple ways to effectively avoid this, and have a GREAT transit system!
Chicago, Philadelphia, Jersey City, Baltimore,
Seattle, Oakland, Minneapolis, Miami...

Yeah I have heard Miami is managable. I am seeing a lot of Chicago. I'd be worried about crime in both of these cities though. I'll have to look more into them though, thanks. Yes I know a lot of cities outside of the USA have very good transportation in their cities.

Crime in Chicago is limited to a very few neighborhoods - certainly none of those I listed in my prior post.
It's very hard to get around in Orlando without a car, maybe possible but hard.
However, if you stay in a hotel on i-drive and you are going to spend most of the time in theme parks, you won't need a car.
