Didn't their sign say "Ruff's Giant Burgers"? I think so, and they were! I believe the restaurant area was once a drive-in. A lost TC classic.

The burgers were pretty wide, I'll definitely give them that, and the onion rings were always good. It almost felt modeled on Arnold's from Happy Days.
The good old "unworthy heir" model of business death.

That said running a restaurant involves a lot of hard work, and it tends to be not only hard work but continuous hard work. The pay ain't that great either.

Yeah. I am pretty sure I wouldn't want it, because one has to be able to cook and wait tables, and my skills are more along the lines of logistics and bookkeeping. At least, though, they didn't half do it. So many kids run their parents' enterprises into the ground. At least Ruff's children simply said "no" and enabled their father's brainchild a dignified passing.

Anyone know what is going up on Edison in Kennewick just south of Canal? Has a very "drive-thru" look.

That I don't know, there are a few located in the Portland area and always felt it would be cool if they could expand to the Tri-Cities.

I haven't ever tried Chicago Pizza here. To me, there is pizza, and then there is Portland pizza. I assume Chicago Pizza is not Portland pizza. Pizza is meant to be eaten with the objective of being full. Portland pizza is when you take a ball of dough about the size of a golf ball, roll it out until it's about 1' wide and 1/32" thick, put 1 ounce of artisanal free trade tomato basil pesto curry sauce, add roughly one ounce of a grated mix of gruyere and marighella artisanal cheeses, sprinkle on less than 1/2 oz of balsamic vinagrette-marinated tofurkey, and then add four ounces of stuff like arugula, kale, jicama, radishes, mango, bung beans, all finished with heirloom tomato slices and newestfad-itaki mushrooms. Gluten-free options available, naturally.

Now that is funny, because it is true!

Chicago would put it in the dumpster without even tasting it!

Did any of you see this about Chick-fil-A?

Chick-fil-A is going where no fast-food chain has gone before

That is why I posted the Chick-fil-A piece.. Anyone want some KALE with their order?

I agree with pnwguy2 because j.k.k.'s post is true and most people in Chicago and probably 45 or more states would toss the "Portland Pizza," as described.
