I am going to guess and say you are saying that because you are tired of the amount of people moving to your area????????

I get that... like everyone from up here that moved to where I used to live. So I figured, since everyone from up here is moving down there... there must be plenty of room up here for me. Here I am!

Now I am Western Wa... and have no plans on moving to the TC but I would move there before I ever went back to CA.

I go there often and can say the people are just as nice and I never feel "unsafe."

Two points, actually: I live 2,000 miles away from the Pacific Northwest. Grew up there and will move back there in the next few years. As far as people moving to the TC, take it. I hope every Californian transplant chooses the TC for a landing point.

Part II: I really hope you aren't suggesting people from the PNW have moved in droves to California. Please tell me you aren't attempting to pass that off as fact.

Washington Native,

After reading both of your posts I still do not get what you are trying to tell us ???
If you are comming back in the next few years, where will you go???
Where did you live when you were here???
I do not understand whats wrong with the TC area.
Are you for real, or are your comments said with tounge in cheek ???

Perplexed........Silverfox

I am sorry you have to be so far from home. But at least you are one of the lucky ones that gets to come back.

As for TC.. it has changed a lot. There are some really nice areas there even the desert has it's beauty.

As for your "Part II" Yes that is exactly what I am suggesting. And I do know this for fact...but not all of CA. More specifically, The Coachella Valley. The last couple of years I was there I met more WA and OR transplants than ever before. In fact when I was last down there visiting, I went to a party and over half the guests were originally from the NW. When driving down the roads, every third car had WA or OR plates. And those I used to know as part timers are now full timers. Yes it is a resort area and lots of people have second homes... but rather than coming there for a few months to escape the cold winters up here... are now living down there and coming here for a few months to escape the hot summers down there. The age range used to be retired/elderly... but as the years pass the transplants are getting younger and younger.

Fox - Grew up about halfway between Portland and Seattle off I-5. When I move back I'll look to land north of Vancouver (Ridgefield, Woodland), Longview, Oly, Bremerton or in Bellingham.

Also lived four years around the TC and patiently put up with it, knowing I'd be leaving one day. Folks on the west side affectionately refer to the TC and Walla Walla as the armpits of Washington.

If you like the desert feel and California-type strips, by all means move to the TC.

I'll take green, wet and a short trip to the Pacific over TC any day.

Thank you for being so nice. May I ask where you live?

As far as Part II is concerned, would it be safe to say PNWerners are moving to a location, and not an entire state?

I live on the eastside, up on the plateau now (Sammamish) and I love it. Wouldn't trade it! Not for any place in CA. Okay maybe San Diego 25 years ago... but it is way too crowded now.

And as for Part II... I can't say because I wasn't in other parts of the state. So I will agree that they are indeed invading the Palm Springs area in droves! I found them so nice it made me want to come up here and live. Real, honest, kind hard working people that weren't 75% plastic... and I mean that literally.

Last winter was easy... this one with the colder temps and power outages, a bit more difficult. But it hasn't scared me away. And to be honest it really isn't THAT cold. I love the overcast cloudy skies and rain. And we do see the sun, like right now. I love it when it snows but living up here on this hill I don't much care for it when it ices over. But I understand this state is as beautiful as it is because of the weather up here. We had a long warm summer and were able to enjoy it. (not like where we came from where you stay inside all summer) So having enjoyed the long summer I can endure a bit of this cold we are getting.
