Some of the most colorful, interesting TC books I've read involve women killing their husbands for monetary gain, or for life insurance money.

Blanche Taylor Moore of North Carolina, daughter of a traveling minister, who received the Death Penalty for her using arsenic poison to kill her husbands,
was, by far, one of the more interesting Black Widow killers I read.

I was outraged that they gave this psychopathic killer the Death Penalty.
What they should have done is put her in prison, and each and every day, sprinkled arsenic into her food, and let her puke her guts out everyday until she died, like some of her victims had suffered.

Talk about soft on crime, merely giving this woman the Death Penalty!

Any other Black Widow Killers you've read of that stand out?

Betty Lou Beets (in Texas).

She killed 2 of her husbands and buried them in her trailer park yard where she lived at. She was sentenced to death. They executed her just a while back.

Judy Beuonano (in Florida).

She killed at least 3-4 people for insurance proceeds. She was executed back in the 1990's.

OK here are a few Black widows for your consideration
1, Belle Guiness 19th century US - took out "lonely hearts" ads looking for "men of means".
Met; married; killed and collected insurance. Indiana I think.
2. Catherine Flanagan and Margaret Higgens (AKA "the Black Widows of Liverpool) UK
Also murdered to collect insurance policies. Used arsenic 19th c.
3Mary Ann Cotton UK
poisoned 20 with arsenic including 2 husbands and a lover Also a bigamist.
hanged 1870s
4, Nannie Doss AKA "Arsenic Annie" Oklahoma US
Well you know how she did it- but listen to WHY
When asked in court why she killed her husbands she replied coolly - "because they were dullards"
Died in prison of cancer in the 1960s

Default blanche taylor moore

I find this woman to be fascinating. I am a retired nurse who worked at MANY prisons. Although she was WRONG she was charming, loving, and a pillar of the community. She killed her father, step-mother, first husband, boyfriend and was trying very hard to kill her last husband(minister) before she was arrested. She hated men who cheated and ended up being so very GREEDY. She could not stop herself.
