Tell that to Donna Ordway. Convicted of killing her abusive husband before Battered Wife Syndrome was an accepted defense.

Knox is free to come home. Let's hope that she can pick up the pieces of what's left of her life. It's easy to spew oral diarrhea about an acquittal and innocence being two different things but spending 4 years in a foreign prison because some "expert" has mistaken rye bread for human DNA is inexcusable.

Give the family their space and let them heal.

The prosecutor should partner up with Mike Nifong!

We will never know if this was a nightmare of being accused of a crime in a foriegn country, or a diabolical, calculating sociopath. But I would rather a sociopath be free than an innocent be in prison for life.

This is true of the judicial system here in the US, but not always true in Italy. I'm quite sure I read that this jury could make the decision either acquitting her of wrongdoing OR declaring her innocent of wrongdoing.

I'll look around for that piece I read. . .

ETA: here it is.

"The jury had two options to acquit: determining there wasn't enough evidence to uphold the conviction or that the pair simply didn't commit the crime. The jury determined the latter, clearing Knox and Sollecito completely." Knox freed after conviction overturned - TODAY News - TODAY.com

Of course, this is MSNBC, so I'm not 100% certain it's accurate but there's always the chance that it's correct.

I also read somewhere that the plan is for her to fly home on Tuesday, which won't be long from now.

^^ Well I for one, would agree with her: Blackstonian Law declares one to be innocent until proven guilty, and in this case, it's so clear that the prosecution was at best bungling and inept, and possibly criminally negligent. That the verdict was overturned illustrates this very clearly.

While I believe this was the right decision based on faulty DNA, I still find it pretty sad that Knox accused the barman of this murder.

If he hadn't had an airtight alibi he could very well be spending many many years behind bars. Amanda owes this man a very public mea culpa.
