I'm an incoming 1L at UA's college of law and I'm currently hunting for housing. This is not particularly easy as I currently live in South Florida.
Anyway, I'm curious about One North Fifth. It looks awesome but I can't seem to find any opinions on it.

Does anyone have any experience with the place? Has anyone lived in one of their studios?

Thanks =)

Sounds expensive. I heard Northpoint is 400 a month with everything, water, elect, internet, cable. It's not as close to the University but.....it's cheaper.

I'm not real familiar with the building but I can tell you it seems to be in a nice area with a lot of construction around it - there are bars/coffee shops/and restaurants within walking distance, and also all of the Pima County courts and administrative buildings as well as lawyer's offices (for externships).

Additionally, it is right near the central Tucson bus terminal and is about a 5 minute ride to the law school, and it's right near the new light rail system that is going up.

Congrats on law school, I just graduated from an Ohio law school and am taking Bar/Bri at UA before taking the Arizona Bar Exam.

If you are going to drive make sure they have good parking, parking in downtown Tucson is nearly impossible (meters everywhere).

"light rail system that is going up"

Been doing some reading about this. The one question I have is if there are plans to restrict the automobile traffic in the areas where the LRT will run. It seems that this will not help traffic congestion, pollution, or anything else, unless there is some plan for restricting the automobile.

One of the things I look forward to is being able to avoid driving as much as possible. I have read much about the bus system of Tucson and it seems generally to be very good. Where we currently live (Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico) the bus system is extremely busy. There are at least five different companies competing for the commuter. Of course, many, many Tapatios do not even own an auto and rely on mass transit. Many, like me, drive to a parking lot close to a bus stop and use the buses. We also have a limited train service. Whenever I go to El Centro (downtown) I always use the Tren Ligero (light train). It is so much quicker, devoid of parking hassle, or traffic snarls.

Last bus I was on... (2002 maybe?) it smelled like it had been cleaned with a mixture of urine and pine sol.

It was amazing.

I've found the busses to all be very clean and pleasant in 2009, and they seem to follow the schedule pretty closely. I'm really looking forward to the trains going up and bringing similar developments to Tucson like what phoenix has seen.
