Well, no place is perfect. I do my best to keep my mouth shut too when I don't care for something. It's funny about New Orleans, I came home with "lukewarm" (to put it nicely) feelings about it as well. If people keep prying, they're going to get what they ask for!

I'm used to people not liking my city. Most people either love or hate Boston. A lot of it is based on expectations. For example, Boston's a sucky city to drive in, but public transit is good and extensive (I don't even own a car anymore) even far beyond the city limits. If you go to Boston and expect to breeze around in your car, you're going to hate it.

I'm sure I'll enjoy Tucson. I try to use information in these threads to set my expectations. I'm expecting a naturally beautiful area, better weather than what we have right now, friendly people (mostly), and a good deal of diversity. If Tucson has those things to some degree, I'm going to be just fine.

I had big expectations. For some reason I had this romantic notion of it and always wanted to visit. I had heard negative opinions, but thought people were racists or biased because they didn't like vibrant cities. Turned out they were right on the money! I wrote some stuff on the subject - may send it to you if I find it. It wasn't meant for the NOLA forum, so it's pretty candid.

I haven't been to Boston and it still is on my list. I'm pretty sure I'd love it as a visitor (in summer that is), but I wouldn't live there 'cause I'm a fragile desert flower.

It's funny when people say Tucson is diverse. It really isn't - the only major minority here are the Mexicans. Of course, there are Native Americans, but most of them don't live IN the city.

Some luck you got, lrfox... It's been a phenomenally nice winter and now that you're coming the weather crapped out. That's what happens to those who prepare. I know from experience!

^I know, I checked the forecast and not so great!

My netbook crashed and my desktop is ancient so I've had trouble getting online the past few days, but I'm up and running again. The first thing I did was check the forecast and it looks to be crappy. Wonderful. I won't hold it against Tucson!

It's just unfortunate. Sometimes curling up with a book without the distractions of home is not too bad, though. Actually, it looks like the weekend will be sunny for most part, if chilly. This morning was nasty and gloomy, but it stopped raining at about 9:30 and it's sunny now.

That's not bad. It is unfortunate though. For me, the weekend is the part where I'll be getting out most. I'll probably be in an office staring out the window on Friday. Who knows, it could end up being good reason to plan a return trip?

The current forcast from KVOA (channel 4) pretty much leaves it open ended. It says it may be partly sunny with chances of showers (translation: "no clue!") and highs in the upper 50s/lower 60s. I don't know how that is for everyone out there, but personally, that's comfortable as long as it's sunny. Coming from here, it will be more than welcome.

Looks like it's going to be rainy and windy (60mph gusts!) tomorrow. Can't wait for that flight in [/sarcasm]!

Have fun! Eh, it's not gonna be some commuter jet...

You should've played the Powerball today - during the whole beautiful winter you'll hit 2 nasty days out of 4! Who knows... it was nice and sunny today. There was snow on the mountains, though.

There is really nothing in Tucson except Sabino Canyon and Mt Lemmon. Are the only things that stand out. Take those things away from Tucson. Then we have nothing.
