I absolutely LOVE that. Its too funny. Is there such a bumper sticker that says that? If so I'd love to own one. If not, you should coin that bumper sticker. I"m serious

LOL the driving thing is SO true! That's why I don't like to drive (and normally don't drive). It's downright scary!!! I wish we lived in a community where you could just walk everywhere.

As far as making friends goes.. I guess that depends on what you like to do & what kinda person you are. There's all kinds of ways to meet people, though! You could volunteer at some places (john 3:16, zoo, etc), go to the bars (good ones to meet folks in your age range would be like... the action lounge, in broken arrow).. Can also go to the casinos around here, the museums, the ghost tour thing that happens around halloween, renaissance fair.. If you're religious, there's plenty of churches, temples or cathedrals to go to. If you're "spiritual" there's plenty of new-age places you can hang out in.. Coffee shops are good, too. Book stores, like Barnes & Nobels... Game shops.. Pool halls.. Any of the local festivals, especially ones like Mayfest, Oktoberfest, that hot air balloon festival, 4th of July (you can go downtown & watch the fireworks & there'll be lots of people there).. Um... That's all I can think of at the moment. It really just depends on your interests & hobbies. You can also meet people at classes.. Not necessarily college or something.. But like.. Pottery classes, art classes, martial arts classes.. The gym.. Banks.. Etc.. lol I have a friend that's also my banker

I moved here from Kansas 15 years ago (I'm 24) & only have a handful of friends, but they're quality friends. Tulsa can be very clique-ish, if you know what I mean.

Smile More difficult if single

I nod, smile and say hi when coming across someone new (which is every day) most of the time they do the same.

My coworkers are nice, but I'm not sure I fit in too well there yet. It's tough being the new guy, plus the majority of my immediate co-workers are a good 10-15 years younger than me. How ever there are a handful of other 40 ish folks wh I tend to gravitate more towards.
Tough call if you're single.

For me, we moved here with two children in '82, in our late 30's. Making friends was easy through school events, PTA, school volunteer activities, childrens' activities such as sports. If you're single, it's likely much more difficult.

The Tulsa Chamber of Commerce once maintained a list of civic and other organizations. If you're a veteran, there are lots of those organizations. If you're a church-goer, that's obvious. That's all I can think of.

Welcome to Tulsa, in any case.
