I think the writers have done a very good job with all of the characters' growth- Betty included. I think she WAS immature and selfish but evolved.
I still stick to my original thoughts regarding Don. I think when he has to fly back for Betty's funeral, he will miss a plane that crashes and he will change his identity again. Maybe.
Although there seems to be subtle hints of him returning to "Dick Whitman" (e.g., him fixing the old Coke machine as opposed to replacing it) I REALLY hope this doesn't happen. It seems like it was a sucky time for him, why go back to such a place?
Matthew Weiner was on Conan last night and was asked what was the strangest rumor he had heard regarding the end of the series. He answered that it was the D.B. Cooper business.
So, we can rule that out.
......
I would not rule that out just because he said it.
The woman who played the mother in "How I Met Your Mother" also said she didn't die at the end prior to the last show but she did.
I looked up Betty's character's age. I know it can happen at any time, but isn't she a little young in general for METASTASIZED lung cancer?
She's 42.
No, she isn't. Google Dana Reeve, Christopher Reeve's wife, a non-smoker who died of aggressive lung cancer just short of her 45th birthday. The father of a classmate of one of my kids was in his early 40's when he died of aggressive lung cancer. He was a nonsmoker as well.
I would not rule that out just because he said it.
.
I would. If that was the actual ending, he would not have mentioned the rumor at all, he would still be hoping to surprise those who had not heard the rumor.
Bah, Pete's going to F it up again. We won't see it but I know he will. I sure hope we get to see A. Brie next week.
If he does, hopefully we won't see it. Pete has always been taken for granted and treated like crap despite his value to the firm, I have felt sympathy for him all along even though he has often been his own worst enemy.
We may not see Pete at all in the final, nor Joan, the show appears to have wrapped up their personal stories. Maybe they can show a short segment of Pete and Trudy getting remarried. They arrive in front of the minister....who turns out to be Bob Benson....
