samaritan is oblivious to them unless they do something that puts them on the threat radar
they will even say "samaritan" and nothing happens
root was only red triangled yesterday because she was interfering with martine
for a moment you seen the computer operations popup where samaritan was confused and then reclassified her as a threat
i seen bret cullen's name in the credits so i already expected a flashback, finch saying the machine kept trying to kill him was hilarious and seeing that lil part about the machine "escaping" was cool
most intriguing thing about the episode was martine...i'm very much awaiting a martine-centric episode

Had me thinking she's a "terminator" while she was walking through the hotel lobby, especially after she tilted her head just so a couple of times. Scary lady.
This was, hands down, one of my favorite episodes so far.
Okay I was thinking The Machine was in hiding so they can't find and take over it too. And I thought that's why it couldn't talk to Root.
Also, Root said Finch (or Cardinal lol) was the difference between The Machine and Samaritan. So I thought he was gonna have a little talk with Sam to see if he could make him more caring.
TM can't talk to Root now because Samaritan is always watching and listening, trying to find TM. TM and Harold's team are both in a lot of danger. Trying to talk to Samaritan would only get Harold killed.

I got the connection last night to why Harold uses birds for his last names. Nathan and Harold were trying to figure out why the machine wouldn't recognize Nathan and it said he wasn't an admin. When Harold asked who was the admin, his face came up and he said, "It seems to have imprinted on me" to which Nathan replied, "Just like a baby bird". Hence, all the bird names for Harold...

There was a plot line I think in season 1 with Harold's father who had alzheimer's, who had an interest in birds too. It seems like even when he was really bad he could identify birds or something like that.
