I'm a newbie to the show. Did they have car sponsors back then? Now they have car sponsors so you know the sponsors (I think it's Ford in this case?) give them the cars in exchange for the show showing off the vehicles and talking about them and mentioning them by name every chance they get.

I know in the past they've had Mercedes and other cars. I'd assume some sort of lose sponsorship rather than the full on Ford one now. I remember in Russia they had the local clunkers that all seemed to break down. lol It was funny. Seems like another country had a similar deal but I forget which one.
