Writers love to have a beautiful actress whose looks are being downplayed. That way after a while they get to do the "big reveal" where the character's beauty is shown off to the other characters in the show. Her skimpy Supergirl costume was sort of a tease.
Normally that line of thinking is right BUT this time the costume was a nod to I believe the more modern Supergirl look as well as how sexified female superheroes are in the comics where if they don't have skintight outfits are skimpy outfit. I saw it in a history of Supergirl video somewhere.

This episode is the first I really liked and now the Superman talk works. I still think it is a second-rate Flash but the series is doing ok and will have me for another week or two barring totally horrible episodes. I like the two versions of feminism that you see from Kara and Cat. This week it finally clicked for me during the episode.

I'm an adult watching it and not a comic book person since childhood. Didn't expect to like it, but so far, so good.

Nearly 50% drop from debut.

Viewers realizing it's sexist and racist so tuning out.

A 1.7 with no lead-in and against The Voice and DWTS is pretty respectable. The debut had The Big Bang Theory as a lead in so it couldnt help but see solid numbers.

It should stabilize and be fine.

Let's not forget MNF as well, it is pretty popular as well...

I like this show. It's not pretending to be anything it isn't. It's fun and campy and I forgot I could enjoy something like this.

Blame the writers they seem to not be able to develop characters or write interesting storylines. The whole flying and fighting bad guys is gonna wear off soon.

They hit on an interesting dynamic that kept me hooked this week and bought it another few weeks because I was not a fan of the first two episodes at all.

It replaces programming that averaged a 2.6 rating in the prime demographic, so if it doesn't do that well it's in trouble.
