I assume Rosanne & dans parents are deceased. I wonder what happened to crystal & the gay male & female couples ? The final season of Rosanne was terrible (after she won the lottery) & Rosanne did say in the series finale that dan died. The show is on tonight & I am looking forward to it. The original series ran for 9 yrs from 10/88 to 5/97. It is cool to see the original cast back after 20+ yrs.
The actress that played Roseanne's mom is still alive, she along with all the others will be back. Dan's father was married to Crystal on the original but I do not know if he is alive or not.
Tonight's show was better--no politics. I liked the "stair chair" lol. Roseanne's been doing a lot of angry screaming so far, as she did in the later seasons of her old show.
missed it last week---- am happy someone posted again about it so hopefully I get to see it tonight. looking forward to it. I mostly heard very positive feedback on it.

I think that's why I didn't enjoy this. I didn't see last weeks episode, just tonight. And it was just mean & yelling. It did remind me of how unfunny the show became in the later seasons. I loved the show until maybe season 6.

You have no idea how hilarious that comment is. We have only seasons 1-5 of Roseanne on DVD lol.
In addition, you might remember that, even when Roseanne yelled early on, she'd follow it up with a laugh or giggle. I can still see her...kind of rolling up her sleeves and glancing at Dan with a laugh after a nasal yell at the kids. Now it's just a lot of noise. Angry noise.

I feel the exact same. If a rerun is on from S1-5, I always watch. Anything from S6-9 is an immediate skip.
In the early years, when the family yelled, there was usually a reason (Roseanne comes home and the house is a mess, Becky sneaks out to see Mark after her parents told her not to, Jackie is tired of Roseanne meddling in her love life etc.). In the later years it was like they were just mean for the sake of being mean, especially with how nasty Darlene was to Becky. I haven't seen tonight's episode yet, but I'm kind of bummed to read they're picking up where they left off.

If I recall, Ned Beatty played Dan's father, and he is still with us, though I believe he is officially retired from acting.

There were moments in it. I enjoyed the little bit of Jackie in it.. Roseanne getting fed up with whatever the granddaughter's name is and sticking her head in the sink.. Overall.. Not as strong as the second episode, but not horrid, either.
