Hey, this is surprising, I just read that the Brooks Sisters did return only last year - remember the scene with Jill running into these ladies at the bar, they were the Brooks Sisters, Jill was their stepmom at some point in history. Maybe, that is when the writers started to think about the Brooks family more and it gave them ideas.
I remember that scene.
I watched Y&R in the 70s, but I was young so I don't remember much.
Yeah, not sure how many viewers appreciate the connection to the Brooks family.
I'm on the fence about Theo. I don't know what the writers are doing with the character. Good guy? Bad guy? Misunderstood guy?
Is anyone warming up to Amanda (the Hilary look alike)?

I wasn't watching Y&R back then except when I was channel surfing, but mainly All My Children during the summers when school was out. There is hope they will bring back AMC, but who knows, and seems like another one has bit the dust today. Days of Our Lives cancelled all their actors' contracts and told everyone not to return, they were going to be on hiatus till March, but they are not sure they will be picked up - sad. Allison Sweeney already quit.
I completely forgot about the Brooks till another poster brought them up and then a light went on in my head.
I do really believe that Theo is a good guy, yes misunderstood by all, but basically a good man, but one of those complicated ones ala Adam style.

I read online that Days of Our Lives has already filmed episodes way in advance and that the actors knew they would be on hiatus. I don't know what will happen. I guess there isn't much of an audience for soaps anymore.
I didn't watch All My Children until a few years before it was canceled. I got a job close to home so I would go home at lunch and watch it. I enjoyed it. I tried to watch the online series for a while, but I didn't like it.
I still miss As The World Turns.
I don't know how The Bold and the Beautiful makes it. I think they have a more international audience though.
I hope that you're right and that Theo is a good guy!
I'd be surprised if we get to see Y&R today because of the impeachment news on almost all the reg broadcast stations here in the northeast.
Enjoyed watching it yesterday.
Ya'know I'm wondering, didn't Katherine Chancellor have a son? He had really dark hair, stocky (heavy set), and always called her "Dutchess"? As usual, I forget names but in my defense, I haven't seen him on the show for quite some time. Oh...now.,,, it just came to me... Brock Reynolds. Hmm., not having same last name of Chancelor. I give up. I forgot who is is now in relation to Katherine Chancelor.

I agree Y&R will probably not be shown today.
I believe you are referring to MacKenzie's dad Brock.
Brock always reminded me of a hippie. Katherine was married to a man with the last name Reynolds prior to her marrying Phillip C, which is why Brock has that last name. I seem to recall Brock and Jill had a thing for a while, though it was most likely just Jill dating him to drive Katherine nuts. I think Brock is also (somehow) the link between Katherine and Devon, like maybe he's Devon's grandfather (??).

You're right, Extraction, not much of a market now for soaps - Millennials do not watch soaps, but I think this is strange since I remember college kids loving soaps so much in the 1980s. I guess the kids of the 1980s are aging, and the older people from 1950s, 1960s, are even older - the audience is aging (dying out) and you know those marketers don't target older people, they go for the young market (teens, twenty/thirty somethings). It's a shame. I've always found soaps fun to watch and actually very relaxing and also there is that continuity. No matter what we are going through, we could always count on watching Y&R and seeing familiar faces and that goes for all the past soaps, too.
I remember the All My Children reboot on youtube, it just wasn't the same and I stopped watching after a few episodes, they need to bring it back to ABC with the original characters played by the original actors.
I am sad about Days, but I hadn't been watching it for years, just watch an episode every few months, see what's new, but I love the Christmas shows, usually I tune in for that. Yes, I heard they film like 8 MONTHS ahead, which sounded really odd to me. I like that soaps are only a few weeks or a month ahead like Y&R, for some reason - 8 MONTHS?!?!

No Tucker is Devon's biological dad. Tucker was Catherine's son whom she gave up for adoption when he was born. So Tucker and Brock were half brothers technically.

I enjoy the Christmas shows on soaps too. I like seeing the sets decorated for the holidays. Soon we'll have those pretty Christmas mugs at Crimson Lights!

Yep!! That's why I watch!
Today's college kids have streaming services on their phone so they don't have much interest in TV.

Oh, right--I had totally forgotten about him. Makes me miss Mrs. C even more.
