I was quite shocked when I saw this actually, after all they had been in the same location for over 16 years that I can remember...maybe even 18.

Any other locations in Texas that have closed or are going to close?

One local news station reports their lease simply "ran out", but their store traffic has been slow for quite some time. I would rarely see people in there other than the 2 or 3 employees.

I read somewhere that they are closing 200 stores worldwide but it didn't have specific locations.

Once Tyler gets train service from Dallas, that should help.

Walk into any store in any mall at any hour and the chances are at least even that there won't be a single customer in the store. I don't know how malls even stay in business.

You haven't heard the latest??

Clothing retailer Gap plans to close 200 stores | Dallas Business Journal

Quote:
Gap also will shift from being primarily a specialty retailer in North America to being more of a value player. In addition to closing 200 Gap brand stores, Gap plans to grow its Gap Outlets to about 250 stores, a net addition of 50 or 60 stores. It will grow its Banana Republic Factory store count to about 150, a net addition of about 40 stores.
