Follow up article after first meeting of the groups. Everything presented in the article, IMHO, is needed for Tyler.

Tyler officials DO listen to objections, many boom type DFW area cities often do NOT listen to citizens. Thanks Tyler.

This is right in line with the Census Bureau's July 1, each year city census figures.

July 1, 2016 Tyler 103,930 July 1, 2017 104,991 at the end of May this year the July 1, 2018 figures should show another likely annual growth of 1,000, no reason to be more, so July 1, 2018 looks good for 106,000 population, therefore likely 107,000 for July 1, 2019. Actually in prior years Tyler was growing more than the 1,000, anywhere from 1,300 to 1,500 per year. No annexation has been done in the last whatever years, and none is planned by the city for more than 10 years in the future. So unless, a builder builds the streets, curbs and gutters provides water and sewer the city will NOT annex. City can't afford to provide these services with the .245 extremely LOW "City" tax rate to annex anything and provide these services plus police and fire protection. Tyler turned downed Whitehouse ten years ago when Whitehouse asked city leaders if they would consider annexing Whitehouse if the de-annexed. Whitehouse wanted Tyler's great low city tax rate, Whitehouse's city tax rate is 250 percent higher, that's right, 2 1/2 times higher than Tyler. Of course, Tyler city leaders "politely" said, no thank you to Whitehouse.

So, Tyler will grow ever so slow, inside the city limits, I'm not sure it will be as much as 1,000 per year in the coming years for city growth. Yes, I know, I know, the streets are more crowded. Most job growth, according to the Texas Workforce Commissions monthly report bears this out, is in Smith County, Tyler. More people are driving 20-40 miles to work in Smith county each day, week, month, and apparently, each year now.

Check it each month, I do "for fun" lol Tyler was up to 2nd place in job growth, somehow, 4th last month, by PERCENTAGE of annual growth year over year. This report show % of unemployment ranked by metro, monthly job growth, annual job growth in numbers and percentage and year over year. The medical as reported is driving Tyler job market. This report shows job growth, by numbers by different fields of work, 10-12 fields listed, mining, (oil and gas), trade (retail) government, (schools, city, state, county employees), manufacturing, and so on.

No plans for the city itself to ever, boom, but most of us approve, but thousands more "use" Tyler each day. The police have stated up to 200,000 people in Tyler each day, that's why it seems so much larger in population than is shown, of course thousands of people are not being county in Tyler, Texas, border states. Now THAT is another hot topic not for here or for me. lol

google: texas workforce commission, the click on upper right hand corner: Labor Market & Career Information, then click: left side, middle center TRACER 2, now carefully upper left hand list of options: LMCI Searchpage, you are almost there ! middle column list VERY bottom, click on MSA monthly rankings.

Like magic, YOU ARE THERE. play with the site: Actually far more information is to be found when you click on TRACER 2, you can stop there and look over to the far right column of options to click on and click: Economic Profiles and click on Tyler, Longview and just look at all the information I referred to above.

If you're into information at all, this "stuff" you've found the "gold" in the pot at the end of the rainbow, lol
