thank you Jezer, I looked through the apt prices, converted to US dollars, ah they're pricey, not very much but considering how much I pay now! oh I need to plan this move very well then!

I live in Scotland, and have been getting help on possible moves over to America so thought I would look and see if i can Help anyone.
I personally love Edinburgh, I studied there for 4 years, it has more culture than Galsgow, but yes is more expensive. The only people i know that moved over from america that were not students, did it by getting a job in America in a Hotel chain that runs over here, then did transfer through their work. Than when here it was a lot easier to find a job and sponsor in an area they were looking for.
Just remember if you come to scotland it does not stop at edinburgha nd Galsgow the true beauty of Scotland is to be found in the Highlands!
Edinburgh is probably the biggest city of its size that hasnt been hugely spoilt by postwar architecture. Bath being the nicest overall, i found even Cambridge and Oxford to be quite ugly cities bar the square mile or so around the colleges. That being said i havent been to Edinburgh since they built the Parliament buildings, which have to be some of the ugliest buildings ive ever seen (in photos at least)
The centre of Glasgow is nice enough, although from what ive seen of it the rest of the city is a bit of a sprawling mess. Also it appears to be on a grid system in the centre, which is rare for Scottish cities.
The Scots always seemed very friendly to me, more so if youre used to living in London.

Glasgow is one of the finest examples of a Victorian city in the UK. The city centre is okay but the West End is magnificent (the real West End, not the Estate Agents definition of it).

From the vantage point of a classical music lover at least, Glasgow has considerably more culture than Edinburgh.
Also much more of a "real" place than touristy Edinburgh.
In the final analysis you like what YOU like, don't second guess yourself.
thanks everyone! I'm just going to start applying to jobs there now and see what happens. I am gradating in a few months so even if I don't find a job right away I will try to visit Scotland to get a feel for it.
