In the next few weeks My 8 year old son and I are planning on relocating to Ogden. I've heard that it's not a very good place to live. Specifically we are moving to the 1100 block of 26th street. Is this a bad decision?

I asked before. Are you renting? Got a job? You can always move somewhere else in Ogden.

Not a bad decision.

Default We like it

We relocated to Ogden about 6 years ago from California. There have been pros and cons... By the way, we live several blocks from where you are intending to move. Generally speaking, the neighborhoods are a little better on the east side of Harrison Blvd (where we are located), but I think your area should be okay since it is really close, and that is not a bad area.

Ogden (and Utah in general) is very family friendly, so that is a big advantage here. Also, the cost of living is nice compared to CA. It is a beautiful place to live.

There are of course a lot of mormons in Utah. I don't know if that is your religion or not. We are not mormons, but we have managed to make a lot of friends anyway. For this state I think that Ogden is more diverse than a lot of other cities (which I like).

There are a lot of fun events throughout the year. In the summer we have the farmer's market, and there are outdoor movie and music events downtown. Ogden generally gets a bad wrap in the rest of the state, and I'm honestly not sure why. I've heard people complain about violence, but not the locals. Coming from CA it seems rather benign to me. Good luck!

Default Weather

Sorry, I forgot to mention the weather. I am not necessarily a fan, but I think I'm spoiled coming from CA. I'm not a big fan of the cold winters and the snow, but hopefully you are into snow sports and that won't be a concern for you.
