I can believe that... Vancouver seems like the "rich" and unrealistic city in Canada that everyone wants to live in, but struggles to do so. Kind of like LA in the US or Manhattan or San Fran, etc.
So would Calgary or Toronto or Seattle be a better deal than Vancouver? I'm guessing so...

Seattle for sure (I lived in Van, moved to Seattle...night and day), Calgary now is in the epicenter of the Oil price crash so i wold stay away from it (and its winters are freaking brutal).

Unlike Vancouver, LA, San Francisco or LA high cost of living are at least justified by their economic might.

I don't care how good LA is doing I would never move there. Its way too crowded and dirty and yuck!
Maybe SF though, SF is okay.
I am glad that you told me that Seattle is doing well. Seattle is my top choice if I were to stay in the us.
