There are tribes of people that not only eat meat and vegs they don't ever get cancer. So don't spread false information.
Who says a person has to get all of those nutrients in one serving of food? Who cares if vegans get all of those nutrients in different foods over the course of the day? They're still getting them, but without the suffering of a living being who indeed feels pain and fear.

As for those "tribes of people" you mention that eat meat and "don't ever get cancer" (emphasis added), please tell me where these tribes exist and the peer-reviewed studies that prove your assertion.

^^
This cognitive dissonance is the most frustrating thing vegetarians deal with, whenever the topic comes up.

Question: Where do the grass-eating animals get their protein and nutrients from?

These links suggest otherwise:

The WHO classes processed meats as a Group 1 or a definite carcinogen, and lists red meat as Group 2A or probably carcinogenic. Excerpt:

Red meat refers to all mammalian muscle meat, including, beef, veal, pork, lamb, mutton, horse, and goat.

Processed meat refers to meat that has been transformed through salting, curing, fermentation, smoking, or other processes to enhance flavour or improve preservation. Most processed meats contain pork or beef, but processed meats may also contain other red meats, poultry, offal, or meat by-products such as blood. Examples of processed meat include hot dogs (frankfurters), ham, sausages, corned beef, and biltong or beef jerky as well as canned meat and meat-based preparations and sauces.

Link:

https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-de...processed-meat

Here's another site to consider:

https://progressreport.cancer.gov/prevention/red_meat

Excerpt:

Red meat is associated with an increased risk of colon and rectum cancer, and evidence also suggests it is associated with some other cancers, such as prostate and pancreatic cancer. Examples of red meat include beef, pork, and lamb.

Processed meats are products that have been preserved by smoking, curing, salting, and/or the addition of chemical preservatives. Examples of processed meat include hot dogs, sausages, bacon, and luncheon meats. Processed meat is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer, and evidence also suggests it is associated with stomach cancer.

Nobody said you can't put together more than one plant food and obtain complete protein. I do so all the time (hummus with w/w pita, peanut butter with w/w bread, beans and brown rice). Also, you don't have to get complete protein daily in one meal. And foods like this are a heck of a lot cheaper than eating grass-finished meat. Why should I have to pay exorbitant prices for this kind of meat?

O.P.....I probably owe you an apology...ha. I said that nobody is going to criticize men for being vegetarian because it's super manly IMO to make your decision & stick to it...to do what's right for you...specially with strangers & servers. So...I gave you a hard time about your post.

AND...I still think that BUT......I'm seeing that ppl want to fight about the reasons why ppl become vegetarian or reduce their meat intake when it's just common sense IMO AND our own decision...for women & men. It's not like meat & a diet high in saturated fat isn't associated with disease. The information is everywhere you look. It's just common sense to me.

It's strangers tho....so? It's not frustrating to me & I live in a "mixed household". My fiance is not totally vegetarian but I am. We respect each other & I'm working on him...ha.

Nate Diaz admits he also eats eggs and fish. He also pretty jacked from steroid use. I guess if you’re vegan, and only eat eggs and fish, along with taking steroids and a mountain of other supplements, then yes you can perform to Nate Diaz levels.

Mike Tyson is a vegan...I’d like to see someone call him a disgrace to all men.
It’s funny that Tyson ditched his vegan diet to get ready for his recent fight.

Mike Tyson: “I only eat elk and bison — wild stuff — and I’m starting to feel fit. I realised the stuff that’s good for other people — like kale, vegetables and blueberries — for me is really poisonous.”

Tyson did the vegan thing, in addition to stopping the use of copious amounts of alcohol and drugs, just to lose weight.

Most people in the world don’t shop at Whole Foods, so yes they can eat only grass-fed beef.

Processed meat is different than wild meat or even grass-fed. Lumping it all together is where most studies get it wrong. The longer you live, the more likely you are to get cancer. The countries that eat more meat generally have a longer life expectancy and more cancer. These countries also drink more alcohol, smoke more, and eat other processed junk food at higher quantities as well. It’s very difficult to isolate only unprocessed wild or grass-fed meat as the cause.

That’s fine, I don’t really care. Grass-fed red meat is only a realistic option for wealthy city dwellers and those who do their own wildlife hunting...in other words, not the vast majority of the world’s population. And I was just informing the guy who claimed there was no link between eating meat and cancer.
Either way you guys are breaking the two main rules of this forum which are to not go off-topic and not proselytize to vegetarians. This is a place for us to talk amongst our selves or answer questions to genuinely interested parties, not have your lifestyles shoved down our throats.

It went off topic before I posted. I personally think a vegetarian diet is great and would be a vast improvement for most people. Much of the meat eaten in the U.S. is processed or modified in some other unnatural way, which I do think leads to higher rates of cancer. However, I’d put other processed junk in the same boat, vegan or not.

If you’re talking elite sports performance, you can try to make up for the lack of animal protein with supplements such as B12, creatine, iron, etc., but it’s an uphill battle. You won’t find a lot of top level athletes going vegan for an extended amount of time and still competing at top levels.

Even being a meat eater myself, I see most Americans have it backwards with portion sizes. They put 2-3 servings of meat, 2-3 servings of simple starches, and half a serving of vegetables. Meat eater or not, the majority of your plate should have vegetables.
