What made you choose Nashville and how does it compare to Chattanooga?

My husband took a job transfer to Nashville. I don't know much about Chattanooga.

We moved here from Florida almost six years ago. We were excited about living in a beautiful place with four seasons and experiencing snow. We have enjoyed Vermont but the high cost of living and the long, dark winters have worn us down and we are ready to go back to the South. We plan to sell our house and move to Chattanooga TN by next summer. If you think you would be interested in Milton I could answer any questions you may have. The few pictures that are posted on the City-data.com for Milton don't really show what Milton is like. I should probably take some pictures and post them.
I was going to suggest somewhere in the mid-Atlantic states, but it sounds like you had the same idea if you're thinking about TN. Virginia is nearby & has 4 seasons, but lacks the frigidity of VT's winters. I can do 20'F, but -20'F?!?! I'm looking into Charlottesville, VA as I hear it's like Burlington, VT, only warmer.

We looked into Virginia but decided Tennessee would be better. Tennesse has low housing cost, is ranked 47 in the nation for property tax rates, has no state income tax and I hear that utility costs are low. Also, I think (and hope) that the humidy level will be lower being further away from the coast.

I'm a Virginian doing my research on where we will move when my hubby is done with his current assignment. While the Virginia weather is warmer & winter is quite mild, the summers are very humid & hot (mid 90's is common and at least a few days over 100). I guess we technically get 4 seasons, but we are lucky if spring lasts more than 2 weeks and fall can be an "Indian Summer" that quickly turns to winter. Maybe if we didn't get shorted on the best seasons I'd be more willing to stay here!

My mother lives in C'ville & it is a beautiful town, very similar to Burlington.
