So, um, now that you cannot pre-order the PS4 anywhere anymore ... anyone know, based on past console releases, how long after the release date does the furor generally die down enough so I'd be able to buy it from a store?

I don't know, I'd assume pretty tough until after the holidays.

I preordered a PS4. It's the first time I've ever done that.

I also preordered Watch Dogs from Amazon, but since that's been delayed I'll have a console with no game, so I'm hoping that a few decent games are able to be downloaded at launch.

Xbox one looks OK for an "everything else" machine, and I'm looking forward to the fitness aspect and I'm interesting how the "cloud processing servers" will be utilized, but that will take some time; I'll probably pick one up late next year.

Again, here are my reasons for PS4:

There are quite a few PS3 games I missed out and hope the "streaming" service will make those playable.

There are a couple exclusives, timed exclusives and Japanese games I want to play.

Graphics power on paper seems to have an edge on the PS4.

I wanted something new after have been an Xbox360 owner for all of this time.

The PS4 controller is revamped. I hated the PS3 controller.

It's cheaper than the XBone without the camera.

I am worried about slow DL speeds.

I am also worried about Sony's less than stellar record with online gaming.

I have a PS3 and a 360, but I'm definitely going with the PS4. After Xbox threatened to go with downloads only (to cut out the resale game market) I don't trust them.

Wow based on this poll and what I've been seeing across the net, it seems that the PS4 will blow Xbox1 out the water in terms of sales. Last generation PS3 sold slowly but made it a tight race in the end and finally over-took the 360. It appears that PS4 will be the clear winner this generation. Getting the PS4 for christmas and don't see a need for Xbox1 to be honest.

It would be nice to see the PS4 return to the glory days of PS1 and PS2. The PS3 is nice but those two systems were juggernauts.

The PS3 was a great console but made a mistake with the launch price point. Not everyone has $600 not including HDMI cable or games. I think will be differnt and Sony will claim its spot back at the top.

I do agree that PS1 and PS2 offered some good times.

As if anyone needs another reason to buy a PS4 rather than a Xbox One.

Why is Call of Duty: Ghosts is 720p on Xbox One and 1080p on PlayStation? - IGN

Quote:
Infinity Ward's executive producer Mark Rubin briefly explained last week why there was a disparity in the resolution of Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One (runs at 720p) and PlayStation 4 (runs at 1080p).

If I received either console I'd give it away. They both completely suck.

You've played with both of them?
