I know that....Outlets use to be pretty cool, you could really find discounts there, these days, not so sure...I use to go to Hagerstown, not too much there at a discount.

Yeah that model has changed now. Since their popularity has increased many outlet stores carry lines from thier full retail designers that are purchased/made specifically for their outlet centers. Essentially you won't get as deep of a discount as you would with surplus items. As far as your favorite store is concerned they plan to double their number of stores over the next two years. That said Tanger Outlets at the National Harbor will probably have one since they have a relationship with them.

PGC approved expanded gambling by 59% to have a sixth casino in the county. If MGM gets this as expected, it will be one of the best integrated resorts on the east coast. On top of that we have four more years. Christmas has come early.

Close. But you called it. Time to move on. We all have work to do for our state and our counties.

One of the things Rushern talked about in his speech last night was working on Indian Head Highway. He has already gone on record saying that he would make it a top priority to re-construct. That's going to change a lot of things in southern MD.

You're right. Completing that project would be big. From my understanding to complete the entire thing would be about 500M but that project is a priority if southern pg/md continues to be developed.

Great news, now all the people who shouldnt be throwing their money away on gambling, can do so to their hearts content. Big deal on a casino, I was surprised it passed.

4 more years? I hope you have a secure job....

Who might these people be? And again, people fail to realize, gambling has been in this state for as long as I can remember.

Lottery
Keno
Horse Racing
Slots

Atlantic City, Ocean Downs, and Charles Town aren't that far away. So, who are all these people that have never heard of gambling before and will be drawn to the new shiny building with blinking lights to part with money they don't have? And who are we to judge who should and shouldn't be spending money at a casino? How much is enough for each household?

I can tell you one thing, there are a whole lot of things out there that people THROW their money away on. How about going to FedEx see the Deadskins lose every season?

I just think casinos are a "cop-out". This isn't Potterville, with gambling and blinking neon. Create industry here that can last, create well paying jobs.

No. This isn't Potterville. And what many of the opposing voters don't realize is that the casino will only be about 35% of MGM's business. This will also be a resort with a hotel. Are hotels cop-outs? Not when they can draw tourists away from DC to spend money in MD. Those tourists will need somewhere to eat. There will be Las Vegas style restaurants with top chefs. History shows that PG has been pleading for upscale dining. Restaurants for visitors and locals are not cop-outs. Those tourists may want to spend money on a few nice things. Upscale to high end shopping will be a part of the resort. Again, history tells us PG has been pleading for shopping options other than Shoe City. Don't see shopping as a cop-out there. There will be entertainment. Currently, DC, Montgomery, and I believe Fairfax all have the top entertainment venues. PG will get a venue that will offer the nation's hottest artists. PG and Maryland would draw even more tourists as some like to follow their favorite entertainers. No cop-out there.

So you see, there is more that MGM is offering than JUST a casino. This has been reiterated over and over and over. Yet people still think that there will just be a room filled with slot machines. This is strictly a win for the amenities PG county has been pleading for. It just so happens a casino will be attached. Personally, even if I was against a casino, I could live with one if it brought the other amenities that are expected. Here's a shocker. People can actually eat, sleep, and shop without ever having to play a single casino game. At the very least, that is a win. Maryland and PG county needs outside foot traffic and revenue. The casino/resort will provide that foot traffic and revenue. But people have to be open-minded. The cost/benefit analysis is in favor of the casino/resort.
