Well maybe if she takes the express lanes it won't be so bad but I hear there's a bottleneck crossing into Maryland.

We visited the NH again today to get a better feel of the commute I would have. (BTW, my spouse works close to Arlington) I loved the NH even more today. The new THs are really nice and I think that area will only get better with time. I think it is worth the extra commute to get the nice view of the Harbor every day!
The National Harbor is nice to look out and look out from especially in the evening but I'm not sure it's worth the commute to Rockville. Whatever you decide see if you can try a dry run of the commute before you commit.

Traffic here is legendary and is the worst in the country by some studies. I don't think you can really grasp what some posters are talking about until you've sat through it.

For some people, waterfront property is worth the extra commute. People commute from Annapolis and other Chesapeake Bay communities. I like the water too. For some, it is a stress reliever to be able to live close to it. I guarantee you that my retirement or vacation home will be next to a body of water.

Those places encounter less traffic than someone traveling the way the OP is considering. It is going to be almost nonstop traffic. At least in a place like Chesapeake Bay, once you get close, the traffic will die off. That won't be the case for this one.
