I am very cautious with endorsing new developments and even more cautious when the organization has a checkered past, but evidently Chick-Fil-A is considering a location at PG Plaza, according to the Hyattsville Patch. Chick Fil-A Eyes Hyattsville Mall Parking Lot - Hyattsville, MD Patch

Evidently, a bone of contention is the drive-thru. But even I can see that the parking lot is significantly under-utilized and could probably handle a drive-thru ONLY if it is only accessed from the mall parking lot and NOT from E-W Hwy.

How is Chick-Fil-A's past checkered?

I disapprove. Famous Daves was to take that spot but pulled out during the recession. There's not a single drive through in the entire area. A sit down restaurant should take that spot. It would be more consistent with the OUTBACK and Olive Garden restaurants already there.

I'm sorry Chick Fil A is not that much different than an Outback or Olive Garden. Don't see what is the big deal.

Chick-fil-A execs will likely say that the market indicates that consumers want a drive-through and they *may* even sort of indicate that they can't put a restaurant there without a drive-thru.

But there is a Chick-Fil-A without a drive through in downtown Silver Spring and another in far flung Silver Spring, near the intersection of Rt. 29 and Tech Road.

By checkered past I was referring to the Chairman's comments about homosexuals. It's a big issue for some people.

That doesn't mean that their past is checkered. Controversial? Sure, but checkered is a matter of opinion. It implies that he did something wrong, which again is a matter of opinion.

Oh well don't know if I'd describe it as "checkered" but to each their own.

Fair enough - checkered was not the best word choice. Honestly, I was afraid if I was too excited about it people would jump on me and demand to know how I could support an organization where one of the executives said such horrible things a few months ago.

Ultimately, what I am glad to see is a well established national franchise looking at a location that is already zoned commercial and where there appears to be sufficient space to accommodate it.

Also, I love Chick-Fil-A.
