And good luck finding an African American in Langley Park and nearby area.

College Park is definitely not a "Black Community", though. That's like saying a place like Columbia (which at 27.5% AfAm is more "black" than College Park at 17.6%) is a "black community". Non-Hispanic White still forms the plurality (47.5%) in College Park...

Chillum and Hyattsville are both mix between the Hispanic immigrants and Blacks, with some White in Hyattsville also thanks to gentrification along the "Arts District" (basically extension of College Park southward to me). Throw in Adelphi (Hispanic majority) or East Riverdale (also Hispanic majority) to that list also.

Even places like Laurel (the city aka the part in PG County) and Bowie are borderline - Black do now form majority in both (~56% in Bowie, ~50% in Laurel due to the Hispanic population there) but there's still sizable non-Black in both places. Compare that to places like Largo which is 85% AfAm.

tl;dr: The bottom line is that not "every single city" in PG County is "Black community".

Thats funny bc I just moved from Largo to Bowie and that 85% to 56% is def a difference. I jokingly call it Columbialargo bc it feels like a mix of both.

As an African American myself, I can assure you that if you looking to establish yourself in a middle class Black neighborhood your will find more predominantly Black middle class neighborhoods in Maryland than anywhere else in the US.
Maryland has the highest Black income rates in the US, the highest percentage of African American degree holders in the US as well.
As far as middle income areas you have quite a few choices.
Prince Georges County, MD which is a suburb of DC has tons of predominately working/middle and upper middle class Black neighborhoods. Seems like you are skewing towards middle income, so some of your best bets would be Largo and Kettering which are both close to 90% black and are solidly middle class with very high homeownership rates. Like I said these ae solid middle class areas.
Once you get out a little further that is where you see the wealthiest Black communities in the nation. Perrywood, Upper Marlboro, the more affluent parts of Bowie, and the wealthiest Black neighborhood in America which is Woodmore, MD.
These areas are upper middle class, have amazing homes and are also 85% and above African American.
it is a beautiful thing to see so many of our people living in a wide array of prosperous neighborhoods.
Howver, living in these areas requires a high income and the Bougie level is off the chain. So your a down to earth, middle income earner this probably isn't a good fit.
And hence your screen name, if your relocating from Brooklyn the DC area has a unique vibe that isn't for everyone. People out here can be quite entitled and have a provincial mentality that can go from slightly annoying to downright insufferable.

Another option are the predominantly Black suburbs Lochern, Gywnn Oak, Milford Mill, and Randallstown that line Liberty Rd outside of Baltimore, located in Baltimore County, MD.

The vibe is quite different from the DC area and that can be a good or bad thing depending on ones said persona.
Here, you have a mix of working class and the further you get out to Randallstown solid Middle class communities. Cost of living is much lower than the DC suburbs, people are a lot friendlier and way more down to the earth. My favorite is Randallstown, which is close to 90% Black with a median household income of 94k. Also there are many African and Caribbean families who reside there as well which is another plus, a Black melting pot. It's a mix of garden style apartments, smaller brick ranch style homes as well as new 4 bedroom 2 story homes. Well kept for the most part, people are relaxed, home ownership rate is high and the is also quite a few Black owned restaurants and businesses that the customer service and product are excellent.

If you have any questions send me a DM and good luck!
