I just got Liberty insurance for both car and home. I'm getting better coverage for $300 less per year than Geico. And it took me less than 15 min. on their website to get that deal.

Wow - I might just have to check out 'Liberty - liberty - liberty, liberty!' Great deal you got there.

Word from my agent was, that the jump in rates was due to a 40% increase in un-insured motorist premiums, being I left that out of my original post.
The reason I post things like this up, is it's just one of many examples of the Washington working class getting fleeced to pay for everyone else. For example, the hospital isn't allowed to refuse patients without insurance. A couple of my ex's friends worked there and they were pretty forward with the fact that somewhere around 25% of the patients don't have insurance and that it simply gets passed onto those that do in the form of larger hospital bills. As a result my health insurance premiums have doubled in the last 7 years, and between what my employer pays and what I pay it amounts to almost 22% of my take home pay.

What a bargain!!

In Wenatchee....due to the illegal situation 2/3rds of patients don't have health insurance.

As a result Wenatchee has the highest rates of medical billings in Washington state.

Irreverent! If you have a drivers license and don't drive then that person can't cause loss of life and limb to others. However many people who have a drivers license and don't have a personal automobile drive for other people...like businesses. So your augment falls flat.

What argument is that?

Are you still required to turn in your plates if your insurance lapses?

Liberty Mutual? They are great but the problem is that we dropped them after 5 or 6 years because over that period of time our rates nearly doubled. The the only claim we ever filed was for damage to my husbands car in a sandstorm in Northern Nevada, they handled the claim well and actually paid to have the car repainted 5 years after the incident because the clear coat failed when it was repainted (it was one of their preferred body shops so they give a lifetime warranty on repairs). When we dropped Liberty Mutual we went with Safeco which is owned by Liberty Mutual, the rates were about 40% lower than Liberty Mutual. When we moved to California we couldn't keep Safeco so we went with USAA, they've been great and our rates haven't gone up more than a few dollars in the past 4 years.

Thanks for the Liberty - Liberty - Liberty...Liberty car insurance update. Sometimes a person needs to hear from a real person about how their insurance is treating them and not a paid commercial spokesperson! I'm currently with State Farm car insurance down here in Alamogordo, NM. Good rate and no claims turned in so far, so I'm holding tight with them for now.

Half empty or half full, either way automobile insurance has to be mandatory and the uninsured motorist pool is a fact of life for everyone's protection

I agree with this but can't understand the reluctance of law enforcement to be more proactive here in Washington. Every state that I have lived in before required proof of insurance to renew registration. Yes, insurance ID cards can be faked, but the underlying law means your going to be in a world of hurt if you get caught. In most places the first words out of a police officers mouth are " license, registration and insurance card, please "

But one of the few benefits of the law here in WA is that you can suspend your automobile insurance if you are out of state for an extended period of time and your vehicle will not be driven. Other states require insurance at all times. I just purchased a car in AZ and since I can't ship it to WA for several months I must maintain AZ insurance while it is in that state, even though it is under temporary registration and in storage
