We just moved up to Renton from Puyallup because of my husband's horrid daily commute. (I hour each way.)
In the three months here, we have only seen one film and have not done a single fun day trip anywhere.
All we have done is pack, unpack and repeat -twice.
One thing we have learned here already is time is a precious commodity because of the constant gridlock traffic. So, if the state fair is a tremendous waste of PTO (another limited commodity because of the many days relocating and moving to two different rentals in less than three months' time), we would rather know now and not waste the rare day off.
I have considered just waiting until next year (when we will hopefully be settled in and won't be in a state of battle fatigue from exhaustion), but thought some constructive feedback from longtime residents, fully vetted in daily traffic jams and the like, might enlighten us on what to expect and if possible, what to avoid.
For example, best days to go, decent attractions, tasty food (if applicable), parking tips, etc.
Thanks to all in advance of any comments made!

Well, it's our biggest fair of the season!

You can do it at a trot (if you're an old timer you can sing the whole song!)

There will be animals and exhibitions, halls full of collections and venders.... There will be lots of kinds of food. Sometimes they have some fairly big name concerts. One year we went to Weird AL! That was fun!

Check the daily schedule on the website and see if there are any shows or special exhibitors that you want to see.

I went last year and had fun. Of course, I was with my friend and her kid and it was great seeing her kid enjoying it so much.

Pretty standard for a state fair. Traffic wasn’t too crazy in and out. Typical fair food and attractions. I do recall there being a “food court” area inside and I had this amazing scone with jam - so so so good. Can’t remember the name of the place but OMG I can still remember how yummy it was and I don’t even like scones normally.

...you can do it at a gallop...(haven't heard that song in years)

There's a lot to do and see there, and if you enjoy fairs, it's the best one in the state.

We have friends in California whose daughter and now grandkids live in Bellevue. They fly up every year to go to the fair, after the first time they were hooked. There is parking at the fair in 4-5 lots but also nearby homes will charge to park on their front lawns. Kids are free on Labor Day Weekend but as you can imagine it will be very crowded. I would suggest going on a Thursday and getting there early, by 11-11:30. Check the schedule because they are closed some Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
