If you're going to take the ferry between Clinton and Mukilteo, catch the ferry early in the morning and after 6 in the evening for the least amount of time in the ferry line. Otherwise, you are looking at 30 minutes' ferry wait time from Clinton to Mulilteo in the morning, and 1 to 2 hours coming home in the evening. Now, I just quoted my husband, who did this run when we lived on Whidbey, and he worked in Redmond. The ferry takes about 30-35 minutes to cross, then however far you have to drive and what time of day you drive it is going to be the thing that tells you how long it will actually take you. Does that help you at all?

Oh, and you will definitely want to take the ferry if you're working in Everett/Seattle. If you're working in the North of Everett, you could drive up the island and go over Deception Pass, but again it depends on where you are on the island. If you like golf, there is a nice golf course with homes for sale in Freeland, which is where we lived when we were there.

The M.I.L. takes a shuttle (van pool) from Clinton and it gets her downtown Seattle fast (I'm thinking they don't have to wait in line at the ferry).

If you don't have to commute with your own rig that might be an option.

For most, the pass isn't an option. It's a lot longer than it looks.
