Some areas in the rain shadow like Port Townsend have cold winds in winter, so it isn't all that mild in winter anywhere that you're right on the water.

That's like saying "I want to move to San Diego, but I want the least amount of sun,". It doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The recommendations by others of Port Townsend/Sequim will put you about 2 hours from Seattle. That's about near Seattle (time-wise) as Murrieta is to Los Angeles.

Are you sure you want Seattle/Western WA? Because it's obvious you have reservations about the weather already.

So, you don't want sun, you don't want rain and you don't want snow.....the SF Bay Area would be more of a fit for that than Seattle.

Its not that I dont want rain at all, I love rain, but I dont want it everyday. I am just trying to get to know the areas better. Thats all.

Sorry to hop in, Which cities have the most rain/least amount of sun? I am just curious and I have always wanted to also move from SoCal to Washington. (I adore the rain and give me real winters!) Many may find gray skies depressing but it makes me happy and constant sunshine really depresses me. I lived in Bergen, Norway which is one of the rainiest cities in Europe.

Most rain would probably be the Western part, i.e. the coastal areas.

Have you been to Seattle when it rains? Most of the time it isn't more than a heavy drizzle, but it can be nearly daily. Summer tends to give Seattle a bit of a respite from the rain.

Try Forks or Aberdeen.

I saw a national television commercial recently that showed this reporter type of guy in Seattle (they had the Space Needle in the background) and the reporter guy was wearing a yellow plastic... I don't even know what they're called because I haven't really ever seen one in real life, just in movies! It was like a transparent garbage bag rain protector type of thing with a hood? Anyway, of course it was POURING down rain harder than I've EVER seen in my life, because it was in Seattle and we all know that it just POURS rain in Seattle ALL the time...

Propagating the myth... It doesn't rain like that up here, but it does drizzle for the whole rainy season and there are lots of overcast days in that "rainy" time frame. Then there are summers which are almost totally dry and sunny and perfectly beautiful... Not that the grey and rain and gloom isn't beautiful too.
