I usually eat between 6 and 8.

I'm usually too exhausted to go out after work, but sometimes I'll go for a walk or bike ride.

Earliest sunset is 4:20 here. Anyway, just because it's late or early there doesn't mean it's late or early to us

Well it's all perspective but I think I would have the upper hand as to what is late, especially considering I'm not even that far north. I bet people in Iceland don't think a 9am sunrise is late.

NYC etc is really at the Southern end of the Northern Hemisphere.

That's just insane.

5:27 is our earliest here, I think.

I was thinking about being in Syracuse in the wintertime, how I might have to go to bed prior to 9 pm, and maybe get up during the night for an hour or 2, and then going back to bed. Going from 6 to 10 pm in the dark is a stretch, so adding an hour to that would be quite an adjustment.

I like splitting my "dark time" between the evening and morning anyhow, like I do currently - doing the "watch" thing in addition would break up the long nights a bit more.

How would you get up during the night for an hour or two? I would be way too tired to get up half way through a sleep.

If I woke up at 5am it still wouldn't be bright for 4 hours.

Anyway, that is what the winter mornings are like here, I am used to it but it can be confusing for me. When I was in school it was common for me to wake up at 7am and think it was still the early hours. You really can't tell what time it is in winter because it's really, really dark for most of the time

I find it so funny that you think that 7am is a late sunrise. To get that sunrise i'd have to use GMT -2 or Brazil's timezone in winter.
Go to ne java or ne brazil 6am is later than latest sunrise of the year and is really too late for people schedules.
