My sister went to New York nearly 5 years ago and loved it - she was raving about how amazing it is long after she had returned. I want to visit sooner rather than later.
Bratty sister is whinning so we have to pay a fortune to change the flights for her to come home to a crappy concert that she never ****ing told us about.
Grr ****int *****
Your parents sound like the problem. In fact, your parents clearly are the root of this problem. If your sister is like that, and you are the way you are, it's not difficult to see where this has come from.
If my daughter behaves like that when she's 17, I'll Hadouken her.
I would love to visit NYC. Always imagined it as this massive place that has everything you can think of.
Doesn't have good hiking, or peace and quiet, or an even half acceptable cost of living, or offer any kind of desirable lifestyle. And don't even get me started on the people. You may enjoy visiting, if you can tolerate the intolerable (for me) atmosphere, but forget trying to live there.
The NYC sub forum here is full of complaints, too.

That stuff isn't important to me - and I could take a day trip somewhere else if I was that bothered. I've never had any desire to live in the US but New York, as well as San Fran and Boston, could definitely persuade me.
Way overrated. Okay club scene, plenty of good dining, museums, shows, "culture", etc. but it's really a dump. Fun to visit every now and then, but prepare yourself for random whiffs of sewage and garbage.
Eh, really? It's not that bad, or maybe I don't base my rating of a place on sporadic smells. Anyhow, New York City's a great city and interesting to keep exploring on and on, though I do think parts of it are rather unattractive. I go back frequently, but don't really get that excited about it. Eventually, if you're not going out places, it's just a busy city.
