What is your nearest beach? How is the weather there?

Vernon has three lakes with a good half dozen quality beaches on two of them (Okanagan and Kalamalka). Technically Kal. Lake is in the adjacent city of Vernon, but it's still part of the metro Vernon area. The big problem here is residence time. The residence time of both lakes is over 50 years, and this is not good for such heavily used lakes. By contrast, Kamloops Lake (where I used to live) has a residence time of 0.2 years.

Warm summer days with cool nights. Pleasantly mild winters. Lots of sunshine year round. Summer heat waves for those who desire more "beachy" weather and the odd winter warm spell that brings things warmer than a typical summer day.

Only complaints are 1) It needs more summer rain and thunderstorms 2) Santa Ana winds are too dry and uncomfortable and cause poor air quality and nearby wildfires in the hills.
