One of the most hyped things out there I find is drought talk. Unless its years worth like California, ect I don't see it being a big deal in New England. We always make up for it.

Northeast goes from saying "we're in drought conditions, I need rain, where is the rain, why is it so dry".... to " wish it wouldn't rain so much, why is it always gloomy and rainy, enough with the rain, I got over 5" in couple days"

My forecast. I'll probably be complaining about too much rain soon.

I'd rather it be dry for weeks on end then rain few times a week.

Todays rain came 25 days after the last rains. It was awesome to go over 3 weeks without rain. Lots of chances to get some outside work done.
It's rare to have a near rainless stretch this long. Sure, this pattern is unlikely to hold for months, but it's still unusual, soon things could brown-ish or less lush. Streams are already low. I biked on a dirt road a few days, very dusty when cars past due to lack of rain. And the sides were covered with a gray dust from no rain washing it away. It was nice to hear the sound of rain this morning, wish it was harder.

I noticed the edges of lawns are burnt now. City Winter Road salt killing it and there wasn't any rains to flush it away. Some grasses already drying out.

You're right!!! It's not common to get that streak. Interesting. It didn't feel long for me I guess since I didn't mind. (a climate preference of mine little rain? )

Check it out..........

BDR had their 14th longest streak of consecutive days with less than 0.03" of rain. I used 0.03 since they recorded 0.01 twice on 9th and 12th. (drizzle/mist/dew?)

Using No rain (0") 21-26 days is the extreme. So I was near the extreme for this area.

Is there any way you can find the data for rainless stretches for Atlanta? I haven't been able to find any for here, although I think the record is probably somewhere between 50 and 60 days.

I once went 2 and a half months without seeing a drop of rain, since I was away the few times it rained at home, and didn't see any rain where I went. That was rough, to say the least. Let's just say I won't be complaining if I get to see rain in Paris, even if it means getting my shoes wet...lol.

At Delaware Park. On my phone. It's kind of warm, but tolerable in the shade. It's partly cloudy so that helps a bit. 10 to 15 degrees cooler would be nice.

Saw a Met tweet about that, that we had no rain in a period when we get rain. But then I looked at the averages... Every month is basically 3"+/- so every month is rainy then, no?

I don't take too much note in precip amounts, not exciting enough around here most of the time.
Amounts can be so sporadic and depend on a lot of things. I ultimately prefer to look at >.01" days.

That being said...I won't object to a re-saturation. No end in sight.

Looks like 4-6 weeks is the extreme. Problem is, if a station reports .01 by accident or from a 5 minute drizzle it ruins the consecutive streak on paper.

.01 or less jumps to 43 days being the most.
.03 or less 52 days is the most
.05 or less 73 days in 1884

Ending November 11, 1955 Atlanta went 104 days between getting 1/2" of rain or more.

On April 10 1927, Atlanta got 1" of rain.. It took 235 days before getting 1" of rain again. (there was rain days but none at 1" in 1 day)

Thanks for finding that for me. I'd use the .01 criteria, as that's such a trivial amount, and really, the .05 criteria is a good basis for measuring rainless streaks, since anything less than .05 isn't enough to get the ground wet in summer.

Long ways to go before we reach the 73-day mark - but with my luck, that's one record I'll see broken before I'm able to move.

This is why I wish there was some way of excising the months of May-September from the calendar, and just loop the months of Oct-April over and over - living here would be a dream in that case.
