As to trees is eastern USA - generally they are taller than in Europe. Hotter springs and summers with more rain, less spring frosts, more sunshine... That all matters.

And btw, last autumn some **** put fire under 'Chrobry', one of the oldest (760 years old) and most prominent oaks in Poland:

Most scientist thought he won't survive that, but actually it seems he might recover after all:

Keep your fingers crossed.

^Same thing happened a couple years ago to one of the oldest trees in our state. Apparently some degenerate meth addict was doing their drugs near it. 3500 years of growth. Dead within a couple minutes.

The European countries I want to visit are:

Switzerland
Iceland
Norway
Greece
Cyprus
Portugal
Malta
If you want to visit Greece in summer I suggest you to go to coastal regions or islands. Not inland. It is too hot in summer in inland areas. In inland areas come at the rest seasons.

Willows are blossoming. No pics. Sorry. Pretty cool to see high sun shining down in dense woods around.

How about my tree update.

1-2 weeks behind normal leaf out. 3-4 weeks behind the warm anomaly year of 2012.

4/18/12 left.
4/7/15 middle.
Today on right

Oh, someone asked if trees were late dropping leaves last year.. Actually about normal if not a week or so early. Was a short leaf season for them last year.

Brattleboro VT April 29, 2015 update, photos taken this afternoon.

Lilacs aren't ready yet (on left/foreground), but the forsythia is abundantly abloom (right side/background):

In last week's photo of these tulips, only one was open:

Here's a nice stretch of forsythia. Lawns & yards still haven't reached total green-ness.
