Of course not. That's cherrypicking, which is obviously wrong. Using that 28c to say that a station within that city has reached that temperature is OK though. It's within the same city, and it isn't being mixed within another stations statistics.

I thought this thread was about 20C (68F)? When did it reach 20C there?

Sure, but for these comparisons the sheer size of London and Chicago with a load of weather stations gives them a huge advantage compared to Turku, for example. Greater London has a land area of 600 sq mi, while Turku is 95 sq mi. But I guess this is just a "life isn't fair" issue.

I will use only Artukainen's data for the same consistency reasons which B87 and Dean York mentioned. Salo is a good station to have for comparison, as it's roughly 60 km from Turku and 110 km from Helsinki, and is not so heavily influenced by the Archipelago sea. Gives a good impression how's the weather's been in the Helsinki-Turku corridor. Of course I could add Parainen Fagerholm for a comparison how it is in the archipelago. Also the city of Pargas is the muncipality which has the most summer houses in all of Finland. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Fage...3!2d60.4518126

But quite a stark difference in Helsinki. From the lowest high in April to summerlike mean temps the last days:

I don't see why just one station should be used for data.. London is a large city, just as others such as Paris and NYC, etc have UHI effects with different stations showing different temperature patterns, most London stations except for London WC and City Airport have minimal UHI effect anyway so are all pretty similar, the difference being lows are usually 2C-3C warmer in WC and City airport

Now when doing a monthly report, of course use data from one station, but I see no problem with using multiple stations for a city when there can be significant differences due to geography/UHI/etc

80F was broken today, so the next major milestone is the 30c barrier (86f). I'll go with 22nd June.
