Wow. That's just nuts. Not looking forward to it.

A day off from work would be nice, though.

Welcome back O Canada. (It lost Storm #3 for couple days, now look at the latest just out)

Hr 120 Tuesday 7am. Storm right off the coast. Incredible amounts of moisture feeding into the cold air. 850mb and 925mb freezing line off the coast.

Close-up Hour 126 Tuesday 1pm

Those blues and purples are showing 0.50"+ qpf within 6hours so that's very heavy snow rates.

Surface temps and winds. Hour 132. Tuesday 7pm Temps in the 20s in light blue area with winds from the north at this point. This is a Blizzard.

24hr Snow total results from that run. Monday 7pm to Tuesday 7pm

Looks like the Northeast will be buried by next week. Just to the west of us in Iowa too, while we here will get a couple inches At this point in March, if it's not going to be a blizzard, I prefer it to be warmer.

Not sure. If it's in the forecast they usually do. Sounds like we'll be well north of the inch+ accumulations though.

Wow to those snow totals - it looks like a lot of people in the East are going to have finally hit the jackpot for big-time snow this year. In particular if Storm #3 performs as the models now suggest that would be an absolutely classic nor'easter blizzard, with the subsequent cold air to match.

The southern snow is even starting to creep into the Deep South - it's not often we see that in the middle of March.

If the snow falls heavily enough to stick to the ground any subsequent snow will stick onto the near-freezing surface of the snowpack and render ground temperatures irrelevant - in my experience ground temperatures only matter for small-time snows.

The roads are marked here. Liquid DeIcers have been put down in prep for tonight and tomorrow.

This was in Port Chester, NY (1hr Northeast of NYC). Truck just came and sprayed.
