ORD will likely reach 87F/31C before thunderstorm outflows over the lake cool down the city. I might be close to 90 degrees again today

2 maps then I gotta run...

Current 850mb temps. It's 3C over me at 5000'. WOW! (On extreme cold side) Normal is 10C.

Surface temps. So low single digits at 5000' keeps the surface in the 60s here even with sun in June.

A small shift north and east with that fireball might result in a 1966 special. That was when Harrisburg, PA reached 107°F, and temperatures reached 100°F as far north as Connecticut.

This is positive news for warm weather lovers. Let's see what happens

Damn see what can happen with low dew points and RH levels like they have out west and in Europe. We can easily spike in temps. Station 5 miles from my house peaked at 92 degrees before 11AM

Hahaha "Fireball".. How about "Molten Core"? 100s in June is nuts.

UPDATE:: on the mid month heat. GFS has been backing off it now north of DC. No 90s and only couple days of 80s. Still far away but we'll keep tabs on it.

Latest update says Tuesday the 13th is warmest day next 2 weeks.

I could do without the heat. These 70s are just fine.
