Already has, their former misery has been parked in the Midwest for several years.
I’m confused as to what “former misery” you’re talking about. The Midwest has had incredible rain totals and thunderstorms recently while the PNW can’t manage any rain. If anything, misery is what we have now.

Try 6 months of polar vortex, followed by 6 months of rain; Netfix gets old.
I realize farming in the PNW is suffering, yet half the corn here was not able to be sown.
My native plant garden is doing well though, ferns the size of Jurassic park.
Remember tho in 1914 reading were taken next to the cold waters of Lake Michigan. So there is a cold bias. ORD is 12 miles inland. I wonder what Northerly Island's max temp was today??
Part of my smoker rusted out and I wanted to smoke up some stuff for Father's Day so I went to Home Depot to get some corrugated steel to reconstruct and reinforce the areas. It was very humid , 92 degrees 73 dewpoint, the sweat was dripping from me the whole time and the smoker wasn't cooperating, I didn't buy thin enough steel so it was hard to manipulate it. As the sun was beating on and I got frustrated the corrugated metal sliced my hand on the portion my work glove wasn't protecting, not a good start to Father's Day. But then I applied some neosporin and a bandaide and began the meal preparation. Right now it's quite nice, finished a lovely Father's Day dinner and some wine. Plus my smoker has been repaired, couldn't lose that smoker as it has all the "seasoning" from years of brisket, pork, fish, and steak. Will get a few beers and hang out on the deck.

From a comfort standpoint, Seattle has been above average since, what April? I think they were having 70 degree days even back then.
California has had an interesting year, a really productive rainy season especially in Southern California with totals more than Seattle and then some impressive heatwaves as of yet.
Chicago and the Upper Midwest just can't seem to catch a break.
Here in the UK summer hasn't got close to starting and won't for the foreseeable future. Nothing even approaching 20°C in my forecast and that should be the average high in a week's time! Could be some highs failing to reach the teens Celsius yet again as well next week! One for the dustbin this summer, if it carries on like this.

70s in April happen every year. Average earliest 70 is on April 15.
