It is much greener than we expected to be honest. We expected it to be alot more barren due to the lack of rainfall outside winter. Didn't realise how hardy this vegetation was until I came here. Flowers all year round is nice aswell but also very strange.
Those eucalyptus trees look like our US eastern sycamore trees.
True the main difference of course is that eucalyptus is evergreen so those trees look like that all year around. It makes winters feel more pleasant here as most of the vegeation stays green and flourishes.
Friend of mine converts an open pool house into a Greenhouse for winter to keep plants alive through winter..
Has 2 electric heaters and 2 small heat fans. Stays in the 40s and 50s in there which is enough to keep them alive. Even when it drops below 20°F (-7C) outside.
