The weather just seems to be stuck in a pattern for now. Last rainfall was just on 5 weeks ago

Don't droughts tend to feed on themselves? The hot dry ground feeds higher temps which cause the high pressure area to remain stuck?

March is promising to be severely cold in Northern Europe. Winter certainly isn't showing any signs of letting up here.

One can see the temperature contrast on both sides of the cold front on Monday. These are respectively 120 km north of Paris and 120 km south.

Still more frosts than I'd expect for western Europe at this time of year. Has Paris been below average this year? You had some surprisingly cold reports. Or perhaps I assume Paris has an identical climate to London...

They do, but at least in North America, the shift in weather patterns in September often "unstick" high pressure.
