lol I find sometimes I cant safely follow some cars on the mountain(US 321). I have no idea how they manage to make a 270 degrees turn at above 50MPH.......

Just remember, people who drive it regularly and have done so for years are probably much more comfortable going faster than visitors or newbies
Personally, I think the posted speed limit or a little below is best.

I don't mind when people are at least doing the speed limit, but I CAN NOT stand when people go 10+ under and wont pull off somewhere to let you by. If you are scared of driving in the mountains fine, but at least be courteous of those who aren't and get off because if you don't some idiot is going to try and pass you on a curve which is going to just cause that accident you are so afraid of. It seemed like at least once a month I almost got hit head on from someone on the parkway passing someone on a curve. *angry eyes*
The worst part about driving in the mountains is when people feel they can cross the center lane while going around curves. I don't know how many times I found myself looking at some fool in my lane while approaching or rounding a curve.

Oh yeah especially on 321 just south of Boone where it's flat but curves a bit, so you get the daredevils who think they can just blast on through. I think the one thing worse than that is during the big snowstorms when college kids in daddy's jeep or suburban think the 4 wheel drive button is a magical speed down the mountain device. I've seen way too many overturned SUVs going down 105 in December/January.
I still haven't figured out how to drive on the mnt... My car gets the best gas mileage at 40-60mph. On my trip to Asheville I got 26mpg but after I came back to the mnt it never pass 20mpg......
The problem with mnt driver is I can't keep constant speed. Around where I live there are a lof of roads with 15mph/25mph next 2 miles but obviously that's not the speed most ppl drive. But sometimes I feel kinda losing control of the car(crossing the center line on a 2-lane mnt road) if I make a 270 degrees+ turn at 45mph....... I guess that's cuz I don't use brake in most turns.........
And there are many mnt roads without a center line... just two narrow for 2 cars.. I usually just drive in the middle and hoping there won't be incoming traffic at blind turns......
