Nice room and "Folly on The Mountain" is a great house name.

Not entirely happy with this but it was the first time I was able to go out in a long time (grandma babysitter for the win!) and I was trying to enjoy taking photos and not being a perfectionist.

Saucy, I'm amazed you could photograph that many stars with all the city lights!

Nice mountain home MD. I really like the wood stove. The wife and I are building a house and we will have a freestanding wood stove as well (have an insert now, that isn't all that effective due to the fireplace layout). We just got back from our first trip to the Outer Banks in NC. I drove through the Appalachians but they weren't our focus this visit, the beach and islands were. My wife and I talked about relocating to NC in the future, but it will likely be at least ten years out. I think NC has a lot going for it and that is why it has grown so much over the last few decades. Mountains, beaches, three major metro areas, no wonder the state is so popular.

A set of pics from the non-view sides of our 'yard', from a couple days ago...Thanks for looking!

Area off the front walk:

Front 'yard'. Pretty steep, all stuff planted by me. Not the usual suburban look, and the woods creeping back in, does not sleep.

Driveway leading out of the BatCave. VetteVert looks good for 13+ yrs old:

Weeping blue spruce, golden juniper & miscanthus grasses doing well. Zone 4 & 5 stuff likes it 'up here':

Other side of driveway. It is been a work in progress over the years, figuring out what will grow perennial-wise, in this tough micro clime/altitude.

Stuff growing along the driveway wall. Brown eye'd Susans not in bloom yet. The wild daisies have been nurtured and expanded by me :

My milkweed collection. The Monarchs and a few other caterpillar species love them in late summer.

Last flame azalea in bloom. There are a half dozen big ones on the property, but most struggle as the canopy has grown up into deep shade, over the years:
