Started a new job this weak at a rehab center. It's the first time in my life that I've ever worked in an environment with a significant amount of women. I'm a little scared after my first week, as I've never really dealt with this much drama in the work place. I feel as if this job will require me to permanently walk on egg shells. Are there any men on CD that have gone from working in a mostly male environment to a mostly female? How did it play out? Are most these women really pissed off every day, or do lighten up after a while?
Is it probably just this particular workplace?

I'm a dude too and I find working with women easier than working with men. Less clashing. Less likely to have male to male conflict or step on each others egos.

When I rented rooms in my home I rented to chicks. Much easier to get along.

i've worked in places that were mostly women for most of my recent career, but i've temped at a ton of places and i haven't found any correlation of drama level with gender balance. drama queens can be any gender. the biggest drama queen at my last job was female. the biggest one i've seen so far at my current job is male.

The clash seems to be more between them and not with me, but then I'm forced to work with someone that's in a bad mood. The things they rant about seem so petty to me. It's not like I haven't worked with men like that too, but we always found a way to get rid of people like that. Some of these women have been here for over 10 years.

Similarly,

I'm a girl, and yes I hang out with guys because it's less drama

Every Thursday, bring in a couple dozen donuts or bagels with cream cheese. They will love you!

Stay out of their drama.

It will probably be easier for you as a guy to avoid the drama.

I find it challenging to work in environments where there is no balance, dominated by one gender.

If it's an environment that feels cliquish, like a sorority, then there probably is a pecking order among the women.

And they will get their period in the same pecking order...
