To be out of work for a year is a long time and I hope that you will be able to find a job more akin to your liking but if SBs is the only thing thus far I would take it.
You shouldn't have waited that long to get another job.
Not if his unemployment is as much or more than Starbucks would pay.
No, I don't think you're too old. In the local Starbucks here in Redding, there is a woman working there who is in her late 40's at least. I don't think she's a manager, though, I get the sense that one of the younger workers is the manager.
But, think about the Starbucks crowd. Very mixed age-wise. I didn't think it was weird at all that there was a mix of older and younger workers behind the counter. I'm pushing 60, BTW.
Forget the name of the book, but I just read it a few months ago. Guy in his 60's that was making 6 figures as an ad executive, then lost it all. Went out and got a job at Starbucks and claims that he is the happiest he has ever been.
Somebody please find the name of this book for me!
Been out of work for almost a year. Was earning six figures but can't seem to find a job. I'm getting desperate. I applied to Starbucks for a management position but I'm 51 and I see it's mostly a young crowd there. Am I too old?
No, it's honorable work and it's a management job. I hope you get it. Good luck!
