The OP is new to the business world and is smart enough to at least ask for advice. Let's cut her some slack.

And personally, I have more respect for her than I do for those out of school only a few years who are dispensing advice as though they're seasoned pros, yet they're unable to find jobs themselves.

I would say "apparently" it was a warning. It's not HIS responsibility to motivate you.

An easy alternative would be for the owner to just tell the agency to take you off the project and give them someone else. It's really not their concern that you're unhappy with your arrangement as a temp/contractor.

Look for another job before they dump you.

In a prior thread you said:

Employer came to me one day after several secretary screw ups, and how I'm not designing sites fast enough, and stated that he's losing more money with me than making it. I don't blame him since I'm really bad.
There are plenty of scenarios where employees cost the company money just by being there.

My father used to pay heavy equipment operators for sitting in their cars all day so they didn't destroy the equipment. Union shop.

In my retail store I had a clerk get flim flammed out of $50.00 the first hour she was on the register. Making CHANGE for a gypsy out of a $.50 purchase with a $5.00 BILL.

Bartenders? Cost the owners THOUSANDS in one week overpouring or outright stealing.

You should be asking HIM for SPECIFICS. We can't see your arrangement or work product. Are you on commission?

Is this the shady employer? Really time to look for a new job, yesterday.

It means you don't really have a real job. You are just helping some weird dude out with his barely there small business. If a company is just "a guy" and has employees he can't afford to pay, he's not really "in business." He's just pretending to be in business.

Easier said than done at this point. I applied to several jobs only to find that their positions are filled and I'm not right for the job.

I'm not wasting another year in unemployment.

On. Point.

Also, the boss could just be a jerk who likes instilling fear and uncertainty in employees. Or worse, a scammer who is trying to get out of paying promised wages. Either way, OP should be applying for anything else. Wait tables for a little bit while working on design skills.
