Annual bonus at Christmas, access to the company's MLB season tickets which include 4 seats, free parking, and $10 voucher per ticket for concession, boss frequently buys everybody lunch, lets us off a half day with pay the day before a holiday weekend. I could go on & on.
I will never leave this place. I'm 25 years into my career, have worked at many crappy positions, and I have busted my ass to get here, so I know how good I've got it right now.
Minimal interference, trust to get the job done with minimal hovering or handholding, and fun things like holiday celebrations and monthly office potlucks. Also a generally laid-back and friendly work environment. (When hiring new people they try really hard to make sure the new person will fit in with the current crew personality wise. They also have a zero-tolerance policy for drama or rampant negativity in the workplace.
Also an occasional (like twice a year maybe including once at Christmas) profit-sharing bonus.
Above market annual pay raises (I hope it continues), bonuses, a new and added retirement plan, no micro-managing, transportation reimbursement, flexible schedule, and bosses say hello to me every morning.
Seriously... a job is what you make of it. I could find a million things that I DON'T like, but instead I choose to find what makes this job doable. I found much more happiness this way.
I get to work from home, I get paid pretty decent, I love my job (most days), my boss is pretty awesome, I have almost complete autonomy...just to name a few.
Pay me well, treat me well. Considering how most other companies treat their science staff I don't have very high expectations.
