I finally landed a Job and they will not be able to fire me.

I will be working extraordinarily long hours, for an uncompromising boss.

I can be as rude as I want to customers, and I will not be reprimanded. I wouldn't do that though.

It will be 7 days a week at first, but its a job right? The more I work, the more I can make.

No 401k, or benefits.

There won't be any office politics to interfere with my work, and nobody to blame for mistakes.

Seems like a dream come true! Self employment can seem like that.

I couldn't find a job worth taking in the last 8 months, so I made a job for myself.

But he can get new clients if he wishes, that is the beauty of self employment.

And anyone can get a new boss if they wish, that is the beauty of at-will employment.

It's no different really. You still have to do what other people want you to do, even if you don't like it. Even if the pay is crap. Even if you've already put in a full day's work.

Self employment really is the hardest job in the world!! Most people think it's gravy but it's not. Everyone I know that is self employed works more hours than anyone else I know. They go in at 8/9/10 a.m. and sometimes are still at work at 9 at night, or maybe 10, 11, midnight!
Lot of hard work and dedication in being self employed!

It's very different.

A business owner can generally pick & choose the type of customers/ work they want to take on. They can also pick who they surround themselves with. They really have to make all the choices.

Most of the time a business owner is rewarded on their efforts, and not by the good graces of a manager, or playing the game.

The hours may be longer, but the rewards are generally greater.

Hey, keep on livin, lots of luck to you. Eventually, successful, growing businesses mean possible new jobs created and that can only help....

That said, one thing that will really suck is if you lose clients and can't easily get new ones. I worked for a small company for 15 years and the last 2 years that's what happened. For the owner it was like perpetual job hunting.
