The women are probably the greatest attraction in Moscow, or any of those bleak Eastern bloc cities. I do like Russian architecture, though.
I have been to Beijing but I haven't been to Moscow.Beijing is definitely overcrowded but there are many interesting things for foreigners to see there and do.
Josef, have you been anywhere near the Bolshoy on the 28th of the last month?
(And what are the latest gossips in Moscow ( political and what's not?))
I saw some of the Bolshoi re-opening on TV, but not in person. Gossip? I lost interest in local politics a long time ago. There is a sort of stability here, I suppose.

Not all of these cities are bleak; many of them are filled with architectural wonders, beautiful parks, and exciting entertainment and dining opportunities.
Yes, there is much horrible drab communist-era housing and the like. But IMHO it is not much worse than American and W. European post-industrial hellholes and bland suburban sprawl.
I lived in Moscow for 2 years but never went to Beijing. I did live in Seoul for a few years, however, and if Beijing is anything like Seoul, then Moscow wins hands-down.
Beijing, had to many bad experiences with Russians.
