That stereotypical Scottish accent sounds very annoying to me. You know how that detective from Broadchurch speaks... ugh, just grates on my nerves. To me it always sounds like a caricature rather than a real accent.

Apparently there's a lot of diversity in Scottish accents though. For example, Emeli Sande's accent sounds very pleasant to me. It's more subtle and distinguished. The Back Office of my current job is located in Edinburgh so I talk to Scottish people almost every day and most of them have subtle Scottish accents like Emeli's, nothing like the stereotypical accent you often hear in the media.

I had to google him because I don't know his name in real life. I think that's him, yes. He played Alec Hardy in Broadchurch (which was a brilliant show, btw).

There's no language called Jewish.

It's basically an East Coast vs West Coast issue. The thick accent you're talking about is a West Coast accent. Some East Coast accents like Dundee or Aberdeen can also be quite thick though (besides the indigenous vocabulary).

Lol It has been a few years or more (probably more) since I watched his show. And if the reason I watched was because of his Scottish accent, then it was sub-conscious, because I don't ever remember thinking or saying, "I really love this guy's accent!"... It's actually a great possibility though, denial is nothing new to me lol.
